    Pakistan likely to opt out of World Cup in India if Asia Cup moves out from their nation

    Reports state that Pakistan will opt out of the World Cup in India, if their hosting rights of the Asia Cup this year, gets shifted to any other place. Asia cup which is scheduled to play in Pakistan but it has been a matter of debate since long, whether the tournament will really be conducted there or not. It seems like India won’t be comfortable to travel there and play, hence ICC is looking forward to change the host.

    The political relations of Indian and Pakistan hasn’t been favorable and this has been the reason that these Asian countries aren’t engaged in any bilateral series for long. The ACC (Asian Cricket Council) has their meeting at Baharin to discuss these issues for the tournament, where both the Indian and Pakistani cricket boards, i.e., BCCI and PCB respectively stood strong on their fronts.

    PCB warning BCCI to get themselves out of the World Cup

    As mentioned, earlier PCB has made it clear that they will opt out of the upcoming ODI world cup, if the Asia Cup doesn’t take place at their country. Various reports confirm this statement made by the president of the PCB, Najam Sethi, who warned Jay Shah, the secretary of the BCCI, regarding the same.

    The former Chairman of the PCB also stated that there will be some serious consequences if the continental tournament to be held in Pakistan changes at this time. A meeting regarding this is going to be held soon, where a definitive decision will be taken regarding the venue of the Asia Cup this year.

    And indeed it will be a great matter of concern if Pakistan opt out of the world cup, in the commercial perspective. These two teams are likely to face each other in the World Cup, and India vs Pakistan is a always hyped match and a place of emotion for the fans. But if any of them opts out, then there would be huge loss in the ticket sales, and some sponsors might opt themselves out too.
