Jaydev Unadkat creates a unique record for being included in the Test side after 12 years
After being included in the side with a wait for 118 matches and picking up eight wickets is a world record. Previously, it was held by Dinesh Kartik with a gap of 87 tests. Jaydev Unadkat had his test debut in 2010, and since then, he has had to wait for many years to make a comeback with some superb displays.
After a stellar show in the 2019-20 Ranji Season, he took to his Twitter handle and wrote,
“Please give me another chance, Red Ball, and I won’t disappoint you.”
What was so special about that season?
That season Jaydev Unadkat got 67 wickets and helped his team Saurashtra to win the season for the first time. In total, the 31-year-old has taken a total of 353 wickets in 96 first-class appearances.
The left-arm pacer seems to be super ecstatic to be back on the national side in white, and he would be looking forward to continuing a successful, consistent run.
Kuldeep Yadav had been great in the first test. He picked up eight wickets and also scored 40 vital runs for the team. Yet, his place in the playing eleven was sacrificed to give him a chance at Unadkat.
The latter appears to be having a great job, and everyone will look forward to more such performances in the upcoming days.
