As per reports, Jasprit Bumrah has mild chances of ending up in the T20 World Cup Squad. The medical team hasn’t ruled him out yet. Further, the reports suggest that cricketer won’t be needing surgery. Bumrah is supposed to travel to Australia with the team on October 6 while working towards his recovery. The final decision for this inclusion will be taken on October 15.
Earlier, Bumrah was ruled out of the India vs South Africa series due to his back injury that happen in a practice session and he was sent to Bengaluru and underwent scans. He was ruled out due to an injury before as well, so this time the fans believed that he was out of the T20 World Cup squad. However, after going through the scans, result came out that he does not have a stress fracture and will be available within the next 4-6 weeks. However, he will miss the first few matches of T20 World Cup.
“Bumrah needs rest as that is the best medicine for a back injury. For now, he will be in touch with the NCA medical staff. Nitin is directly overseeing his recovery. We are not ruling him out of World Cup completely. He will travel with the team to Australia and continue his recovery there. We have time till October 15 to make changes,” a senior BCCI official said
Bumrah had reported at the NCA in Bengaluru this Friday and went through a series of tests to define the intensity of the injury. The injury diagnosis is “stress reaction in the back”. The BCCI hopes that he will be available in the T20 World Cup at one point in time. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly also confirmed that he’s not yet out of the scene. Bumrah will travel with the Indian team squad on October 6 to Australia and BCCI will arrange a rehab for the cricketer. If he doesn’t match the criteria of fitness, then BCCI will be taking a replacement. Some of the standby players are Mohammed Shami, Deepak Chahar, Umran Malik, and Mohammed Siraj.
In the T20 series against South Africa, Mohammad Siraj has taken his place.
