The hope of lifting the T20 World Cup was once again shattered when the team was beaten by England in the semi-final clash. Rohit Sharma has been receiving a lot of negative comments for his batting and his captaincy from the fans and the Indian cricket fraternity.

England literally made ridiculed India’s total of 168 runs. English openers Jos Buttler and Alex Hales completed this total in just 16 overs. After winning, England qualified for the finale to play against Pakistan on Sunday, November 13. Virat Kohli scored a 50 and Hardik Pandya mustered a 63, apart from them none of the players could make an impression.

India’s next agenda is a tour to New Zealand where Rohit Sharma will be rested. His captaincy and batting performance has disappointed former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja who wants him to play most of the games in a year and develop a balanced side.

“I would say one thing which might hurt Rohit Sharma. If you have to make a team as captain, you have to stick with the side for the entire year. How many series did Rohit Sharma play this year? I’m not saying this in hindsight, I’ve been saying this since before. Even in New Zealand, the coach isn’t traveling.” he said

Ajay Jadeja is also against the thought of having too many captains at one go. In 2022, Shikhar Dhawan and Hardik Pandya led the team on various occasions internationally. He’s taken aback by the idea of different captains for different formats.

In 2022, BCCI had different captains for bilateral various T20 series. Rishabh Pant was leading the five-match T20 series against South Africa in June, and Hardik Pandya led India against Ireland. Besides this, the captains in the ODI format were also shuffled.

“There should only be one leader in the team. If there are 7, it would be difficult,” said Jadeja.
