A new Xbox update may reveal when Starfield will be released. The new game from Bethesda Game Studios, the creators of The Elder Scrolls and Fallout, is set to be released sometime in the first half of this year, or by June. When exactly within this window remains unknown, but thanks to the aforementioned update, we may have a better idea.

Xbox has confirmed that we will get release dates and new information on games “launching in the next few months” at the Xbox event later this month. The following games were then listed: Forza Motorsport, Redfall, and Minecraft Legends are a few examples. The absence of Starfield may lead you to believe that it will not be released in the coming months, but it is getting its own event, so it would not have been included in this list of games in the first place.

Starfield is Bethesda’s first new IP in 25 years, transporting players to the Settled Systems in 2330, approximately 50 light-years from Earth, following a Colony War between the United Colonies and the Freestar Collective, which is now in a Cold War state. The game begins with the player joining Constellation, a group described as the last space explorers.

Todd Howard, Director and Executive Producer at Bethesda Game Studios, proudly describes Starfield as the company’s most ambitious project.

While not impossible, it appears unlikely that Bethesda would release two games on top of each other, and if Redfall is released in the coming months, this would imply that Starfield will not be released in the coming months. In other words, it will most likely be released near the end of its window, which is early summer.

Pre-Order information, including what comes in Standard, Deluxe, and Collectors Editions, may become available. Not only is Starfield Bethesda’s first new IP in 25 years, but it also promises to be a deep, meaningful experience for players to ponder their own story and the story of humanity in the stars – exploring what comes next and what’s out there. It is undoubtedly ambitious, as is Bethesda’s pride in the game.
