Sonic Origins is a compilation of many 2D Sonic games, including Sonic The Hedgehog 1, 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and Sonic CD, that were released on the Sega Genesis. All of these games will be remade digitally on modern platforms.
Sonic Origins will be available for $39.99 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, along with the release date. Pre-orders will be available beginning tomorrow.
Players will receive a 100 Medallion Bonus, Mirror Mode Unlocked, and Letter Box visuals as a pre-order bonus, and a $44.99 Digital Deluxe Edition will also include Difficult Missions, Letter Box, Characters in Main Menu, Island Camera on Main Menu, Character Animation in Music Playback, and Exclusive Tracks from the Mega Drive Sonic games.
Sonic’s first games are 2D side-scrolling platformers in which players must race to the conclusion of each level. Players first saw Sonic in these games, as he blew through areas like Green Hill Zone and the Chemical Plant.
Sonic Origins will give fans and novices a taste of the early days of Sonic, while Sega is already working on Sonic Frontiers, an open-world Sonic game.
