Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos is leaving the club after spending 16 seasons at the Bernabeu. The legendary defender’s contract ends this summer, and he will now be a free agent. There won’t be a shortage of options for one of the best defenders and captains of the game, but there haven’t been any concrete talks about Ramos’ future club.
The Spanish international went to the club to tell his decision of accepting a one-year contract with a salary reduction. Instead, he was told that the contract offer expired in March, and the more interesting thing is that Ramos didn’t even get an ultimatum for the expiration of the contract.

During his farewell ceremony at Real Madrid, Sergio Ramos was asked about the club. He told: “We haven’t thought about any team. Since January, when I came onto the market, there have been some calls [to] my agent, clubs interested, but I never thought about leaving Real Madrid.”
“Sevilla are the other club of my heart and I had a wonderful time, but as of today I am not considering that option, just as Sevilla are not considering it.”
“As for Barcelona, it is a resounding no. You can be very calm [about that].”
“I don’t know if I will be returning to Spain or which team I will go to.”
It would be an interesting transfer saga revolving around Ramos as every club would want a defender of his stature in their squads.
