Sanju Samson’s to be part of the squad against Sri Lanka

The BCCI selectors give Sanju Samson a longer run in T20 after Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma chose to opt-out of the Sri Lanka series. Though Sanju Samson’s score has been good mostly, still he has got very less opportunities to perform at the international level. With Rishabh Pant being their wicket-keeper in Test and KL Rahul doing this job in ODIs, chances narrowed down for him. The T20 format is a place that gave him hope for revival.

Sanju Samson hasn’t fixed his place in team India yet. He has a lot of potential but the opportunities presented to him are very less. He wasn’t featured in T20 World Cup or the recently concluded India and Bangladesh series. In Ranji, he scored three fifties. The selectors must experiment with him in the middle order for the next 17 ODIs before the World Cup. Former cricketer Wasim Jaffer wants the team management to give him more opportunities.

Both Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul’s form has deteriorated but still Samson is not getting a chance in the national team. Jaffer wants the team management to give Samson an opportunity against Sri Lanka and the New Zealand series.

“I hope Sanju Samson is part of India squads for both T20I and ODI series against SL and NZ. And gets a consistent long run,” Jaffer said in a tweet.

Hardik Pandya will lead the next T20I series in place of Rohit Sharma as he was ruled out for his injury.
