Jack Black, one of the stars in the recently released Super Mario Bros. Movie, has said that he believes Red Dead Redemption by Rockstar Games should be adapted for the big screen. Black may be speaking for many Red Dead Redemption fans since several video game adaptations have appeared on both large and small screens in recent years.

There has undoubtedly been an increase in the number of film and television studios that have attempted to make gaming adaptations popular in mainstream media. These adaptations likely reached a wider audience because of the rise of video-on-demand subscription services like Netflix and others.

This explains why animated series like Netflix’s Castlevania and Arcane or HBO’s live-action adaptation of The Last of Us have been well received. It is not surprising that actors want their favorite video games to be turned into movies or TV shows now that people seem to be more open to the kinds of stories that video games have always had.

Black recently expressed his opinions on video games being adapted into films or TV shows in an interview for The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Given how rapidly the gaming industry is expanding, Black thinks that the film and television industries will continue to use it as a source of inspiration for new projects.

A fan of adaptations, the actor said, especially when they are “done right,” he added that he thought HBO’s The Last of Us was “fantastic” and that he believes there are still more video game narratives to be explored, especially the Red Dead Redemption series.

A lot of fans will likely concur with Black’s assessment of the Red Dead Redemption games. The video games’ diverse cast of fascinating characters, engaging gameplay, and gripping plot have made them well-known and adored in the gaming community.

The two games were also well-made, as evidenced by the awards and favourable reviews they received when they first came out. In his interview, Black makes a similar claim, stating that he believes Red Dead Redemption has an equally good or even superior plot to The Last of Us.
