The upcoming PlayStation Showcase Livestream has been scheduled for Wednesday, May 24 at 1 PM PT. This event marks the beginning of this year’s Summer Game Fest, a series of exciting livestream showcases that will provide a glimpse of upcoming releases for the remainder of 2023 and beyond. With the cancellation of E3, Summer Game Fest aims to generate anticipation for the upcoming wave of AAA releases, and some top-tier publishers are participating.

PlayStation is one of the confirmed companies for Summer Game Fest 2023, and rumors have circulated that Sony might kick off the festivities early with a new PlayStation Showcase event before June. Industry insiders have speculated that this showcase could take place next week, potentially on Wednesday, May 24, or Thursday, May 25. Interestingly, this potential date falls just over two weeks before Xbox, Sony’s primary console competitor, is set to host its livestream as part of Summer Game Fest on June 11.

As it turns out, those who guessed that the next PlayStation Showcase would be held next week were correct.

PlayStation has recently confirmed that the latest PlayStation Showcase will indeed kick off Summer Game Fest 2023 on Wednesday, May 24 at 1 PM Pacific Time, 4 PM Eastern Time, or 9:30 PM British Standard Time. Similar to previous PlayStation Showcases, the event will be live-streamed on YouTube and Twitch.

There has been much speculation regarding the games and hardware that will be featured in this upcoming PlayStation Showcase. Final Fantasy 16 was showcased during the previous PlayStation State of Play livestream in April, and a final trailer will likely be released before the game’s launch on June 22. Another highly anticipated reveal would be Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, as fans have seen very little of Insomniac’s latest superhero action title since its official announcement during the 2021 PlayStation Showcase event, apart from a tie-in prequel comic and a few small promotional events.
