    New details regarding Karim Benzema’s controversial split from the France national team have come up, with his presence causing tension with Antoine Griezmann while others were scared that he might be a bad influence in Qatar. 

    After being diagnosed with an injury, Benzema was sent back on the tournament evening. How there were huge speculations that he might appear in the finals after playing a friendly game with Real Madrid.

    Karim Benzema’s tension with Griezmann

    Reports suggest Benzema rejected the chance to go back to Qatar after having a rift with manager Didier Deschamps. After France’s defeat in the finals against Argentina, Benzema officially declared his retirement from international football.

    More details regarding his sudden decision and its reason have started to come to the limelight. Reports suggest Griezmann felt that too much social media coverage was focused on the striker and not focusing him during the build-up and during the tournament. 

    The report also claims Griezmann was ‘concerned’ regarding how less he appeared on social media in comparison to Benzema. It almost called an ‘executive meeting’ with the French Football Federation to talk about these issues. 

    Karim Benzema’s exit from the Worldcup due to injury and decision to hang up his international boots continue to capture the headlines after the team’s final defeat against Argentina, and the 35-year-old striker unfollowing almost everyone among his former French teammates on Instagram.

    ‘Doubts’ from few other teammates too?

    Other than Griezmann, two other teammates whom Benzema is no longer following, Olivier Giroud and Hugo Lloris, are reported to have ‘doubts’ regarding Benzema’s influence on the squad. Paul Pogba, who even missed the tournament due to injury, is claimed to have doubts regarding Benzema’s impact on the team. 

    Karim Benzema unfollowed five of his former teammates on Instagram, including Kylian Mbappe, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, Raphael Varane, and Marcus Thuram.
