The first ODI lead is taken by Bangladesh in the three-day series against India. Mehidy Hasan Miraj and Mustafizur Rahman had the highest 10th wicket partnership that helped them seal the sensational victory against India. Their 51-run stand has scripted history.
Mehidy Hasan mustered 38 off 39 deliveries and Mustafizur Rahman had a steady 10 runs off 11 deliveries. This 51- run stand is the highest-ever 10th wicket stand by Bangladesh against India. In terms of ODI, this is the second-highest 10th-wicket partnership by Bangladesh in ODI cricket.
In the first innings, India posted a very low total of 186 runs which seemed easily achievable but India’s strong bowling attack made it tough for them. Opener Najmul Hossain Shanto got dismissed in the first ball by Deepak Chahar. Things seemed under control when Liton Das had a steady 41- run knock. They were at 128/4 but sooner they went to 136/9.
Mahmudullah and Rahim got dismissed in successive deliveries by Shardul Thakur and Mohammad Siraj. Again, Bangladesh lost three more wickets really quickly and at this point, the win seemed next to impossible. KL Rahul dropped a crucial catch that cost them their first ODI.
Deepak Chahar came to bowl in the 46th over and Mehidy Hasan smashed the first bowl. The hard-to-fetch victory at one point was now the reality. He kept on scoring and in the final delivery, he smashed a boundary to seal the victory for Bangladesh.
“I am really happy and excited. I was only thinking about focusing on one area and believing in that strategy. I knew I only needed to bat about 20 balls to get going. I tried to bowl wicket to wicket with the ball. It is a memorable performance for me,” said Mehidy
