On April 20, Dying Light 2 will receive a massive game update that will include an improved combat system and new gear transmogrification options. Tymon Smektala, the director of the Dying Light franchise, announced this at the Future Games Show Spring Showcase Powered by the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro, where he also teased the next DLC content and promised that more support for mods and mod maps would be added to the community later this year.

Parkour combat was one of Dying Light 2’s strong points, so hearing Smektala say that this upcoming update will “include significant improvements to the combat system that will be more brutal, physical, and rewarding” than ever before is certainly encouraging.

The Dying Light 2’s director also confirmed that you won’t have to choose between “style or stats” because the new gear transmog system will allow you to better transform your favorite gear to fit your look.

While all of this will take place on April 20, 2023, Techland did look further into the future. With two pieces of concept art, Smektala gave Future Games Show attendees a sneak peek at “the next story-driven downloadable content coming later this year.”

The first depicts a fall-colored city with a church spire in the background, while the second suggests a new Morlech Asylum location. More information on the DLC is expected in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, the Dying Light 2: Stay Human update will be available on April 20 for all platforms, including PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC.
