Despite the fact that Company of Heroes 3 has only been revealed for the PC thus far, the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee has rated the game for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. A console release for the Company of Heroes series would be a first because the previous games in the series were only accessible for PC.
Relic Entertainment released the first Company of Heroes in 2006, introducing RTS fans to a new strategy game set around WWII. This initial game was an instant success, prompting the release of a sequel, Company of Heroes 2, in 2013. Despite conflicting reviews for the series’ second instalment, fans have been eagerly anticipating a third instalment. Relic Entertainment and Sega announced one in June 2021, but the release of Company of Heroes 3 was pushed back from 2022 to February 23, 2023.
The Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee rated Company of Heroes 3 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, as well as the anticipated PC version.
There is no rating for a hypothetical PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch version on the listing. Company of Heroes 3 would be the series’ first console release, as prior instalments had only been available on PC. Neither Relic Entertainment nor Sega have responded to the rating, confirming or denying that Company of Heroes 3 will be released on consoles.
Company of Heroes 3 adds various new elements to the RTS franchise, such as new mechanics, factions, and troops. While the setting remains the Second World War, Company of Heroes 3 moves the action to Italy and North Africa. This third instalment includes new features such as the Tactical Halt system, which allows you to pause a battle and select multiple actions to be performed automatically when the game resumes.
The first four factions in Company of Heroes 3 each have their own advantages and disadvantages. The German Wehrmacht faction is defined as defensive and threatening, the British forces are described as well-rounded and resilient, and the Deutsches Afrikakorps are described as mechanised and mobile. The US Forces are described as aggressive and flexible. In online modes that range from violent 4v4 combat to 1v1 contests, players can assume control of various groups. The North African Operation and the Italian Dynamic Campaign are two single-player campaigns available in Company of Heroes 3 for individuals who would want to play versus an opposing AI.
Company of Heroes 3 is currently set to be released on February 23, 2023, for PC. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions are rumored.
