Players have discovered an Easter egg that may hint at a future map in the upcoming Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0. In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s campaign, a potential indication of a new Warzone 2.0 map was discovered. In October 2022, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was released to record-breaking sales, making it the most successful launch in franchise history.
The latest entry in the Call of Duty series has garnered generally positive reviews, despite having some issues and crashes when it first launched. This was made possible by Infinity Ward responding to player complaints by delivering patches and fixes. Less than a week after Modern Warfare 2’s release, the creators even went so far as to provide a large update for the Xbox version of the game.
On November 16, 2022, Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0, which followed the 2019 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare reboot, will arrive. With the release of Modern Warfare 2’s Season 1, experienced players of Call of Duty: Warzone will be allowed to enter the Al Mazrah battle royale map.
However, it has been conjectured that a sizable map found within Diego’s room in the El Sin Nombre task of Modern Warfare 2’s campaign could represent a potential second map for Warzone 2.0. Geeky Pastimes speculated that the map with the name Las Almas, which is a city that appears in the Modern Warfare 2 storyline as well as the multiplayer maps Guijarro and Mercado Las Almas, would be a new Warzone map.
In terms of size and scale, the Las Almas map is quite similar to the Caldera and Verdansk maps and includes locations from the Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer layout, like Santa Sena and Guijarro. Locations from Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer and narrative modes are included on the Warzone 2.0 confirmed map of Al Mizrah, which may support the idea that Las Almas will be the upcoming Warzone map.
It’s customary for game developers to reuse assets, and a quick fix of content might have been a reskinned version of the Caldera or Verdansk map. However, the fact that Infinity Ward went into the trouble of making a comprehensive map like Las Almas suggests that there may be more material to come. Players may be in for two rotating maps when Warzone 2.0 launches in less than two weeks, however, Activision’s official statement will be needed to confirm or refute this idea.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
