Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2’s second seasons are now available, and Activision has released the patch notes for the major update. Season 2 will include a new battle pass, additional weapons, new maps, as well as weapon tuning and bug fixes.
Season 2 adds a battle pass with 100 tiers of content, as well as the Ronin operator and five new weapons. The Ashika Island map is now available in battle royale and DMZ, bringing with it a new boss encounter, a new Contract type, and other changes. Modern Warfare 2 includes the Infected game mode as well as new maps for 6v6 and Ground War.
Players can also participate in Modern Warfare 2 Season 2’s Path of the Ronin seasonal event, which works similarly to previous Call of Duty events.
There are seven challenges to complete in Warzone 2 or Modern Warfare 2, and completing all seven challenges for the event will unlock the Crossbow weapon from Season 2. The M13B assault rifle received buffs to increase mid-range damage and upper-torso damage, while the popular TAQ-V battle rifle received significant nerfs. The TAQ-mid-range V’s damage, full-auto head damage, and semi-auto rate of fire have all been reduced. Another notable change is the tuning of the X13 pistol, which received buffs to damage profiles but a damage reduction when using the Akimbo version.
Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 get some audio updates with the new season. Proximity chat now fades out more effectively over distance, and the sound effect of reloading underwater has been improved. Audio bug fixes are also addressed in the patch notes. The update addressed an issue in which ping sounds could be missing when pinging items or map locations from specific positions, as well as an issue with the sound effect for an enemy dropping cash onto the ground upon death.
