Activision Blizzard has been able to print money for a very long time because of the popularity of each annual instalment of the Call of Duty franchise. That pattern was continued with the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II in October, according to research company the NPD Group. This makes the 2022 release the 15th consecutive year that a Call of Duty release has ranked as the best-selling game during its release month.

The NPD Group has confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II topped the US Xbox charts for November, while specific information regarding the game’s performance on PC and Xbox has not yet been made available. Modern Warfare II was the biggest game on the PlayStation in October and set numerous records for the Sony console.

Gotham Knights, which came in at number two on the US charts for the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, was one of eight brand-new titles to make the top 20 best-selling games of October 2022.

In just the first 10 days of its PlayStation release, Modern Warfare II reached $1 billion in global sell-through revenue, with $800 million of that total coming in the first three days alone. Activision and Sony claim that this was the biggest COD series PlayStation Store launch ever.

Elden Ring is predicted to outsell Modern Warfare II in terms of overall sales in 2022, according to the wider picture. Call of Duty’s winning record is probably going to be broken in 2022 by From Software’s smash hit game thanks to an early start this year, positive reviews, and strong sales every month.
