The cricket board of India can confidently handle big-ticket tournaments every two years and further decided to bid for one extra global event, in which there will be two world cups. It will be during the next eight-year tournament cycle, starting from 2024. The BCCI Emergent Apex Council took this decision at a meeting, conducted virtually.

Sources verify that The Board of Control for Cricket in India, will bid for one T20 World Cup, one Champions Trophy, and also a 50-over World cup, all included in the ICC events’ cycle.

    Three Global Events

A senior office-bearer made the statements clear by saying to the PTI, that they will be bidding for the Champions Trophy of 2025, along with the T20 World Cup of 2028, and lastly, the 2031 50-over World Cup. Also, the Apex Council has agreed on this, he added.

The return of the Champions Trophy

The ICC announced the champions trophy, which took place last in 2017 in England. It will strike back again in the next FTP cycle, likely in India, as they have the bid for the tournament.

The office-bearer of BCCI also added that the Champions Trophy is short but a very popular tournament. So it was very fair for them to bid for the 2025 champions trophy, after 2023 50 over World cup. This is perfect for us, as India should be able to conduct a global event every two or three years, and hence they are doing it.

Moreover, the International Cricket Council further decided that there will be 14 teams in the 50-over world cup, whereas the number of teams will vary from 16 to 20 in the T20 World Cup. Fans are also waiting for this to happen as Indian being the host country in the upcoming ICC events, as mentioned, and most significantly waiting for the ICC 50-over World Cup of 2023.
