Zepp Health, formerly Huami, has now replaced its current Amazfit OS officer. It is classified as lighter, smoother and more energy efficient than its predecessor. Consumers can find it in next-generation wearable devices with the new Huangshan 2s SoC. It is expected to improve in terms of graphics and power efficiency.
Zepp Health brings its new in house dedicated OS and chipset for the next generation smartwatches
Zepp Health held the latest Next Beat Future of Health conference. This was to announce that its next generation Amazfit smartwatch will be equipped with a new SoC and new software. OEMs claim that both are designed with battery life in mind. Compared to their predecessors, the consumption of new eponymous OS and Huangshan 2s chipset has reduction of 65% and 56%.
Huangshan’s latest chip is a dual-core SoC based on RISCV instead of ARM. Zepp Health also claims that its GPU is 67 times larger than the previous generation. Therefore, you may be ready to support the “smooth” and “more dynamic” animations of the Zepp operating system.
OEM has reduced the total space occupied by this new platform to only 55MB, as it claims, 1/10 the size of the upcoming Amazfit OS and 1/28 the size of Apple watchOS (version 8 instead of 7, curious).
Zepp Health OS is designed for smart watches and also develops applications through a new applet framework. It is also rated as 4G / LTE compatible and even with 5G and Bluetooth connectivity.
This new software will be launched in the fourth quarter of 2021. It will support third-party platforms such as Alexa, Joyrun, Spotify or Strava. Moreover, it syncs all devices on cloud.
