The game of WTC Final went on the 6th, i.e., the reserved day, and finally, a specified result is there. New Zealand defeated India by 8 wickets, and won the first-ever ICC World Test Championship at The Ageas Bowl in Southampton, on Wednesday.

    Performance of New Zealand

Kane Williamson, the captain of New Zealand led his team, scored a half-century which helped the Kiwis defeat India with ease. He teamed up with Ross Taylor, when both the openers including Tom Latham and Devon Conway, became Ashwin’s prey. India came to bat in their 2nd innings, and got all out in just 170, giving New Zealand a target of just 139 runs. It was certainly easy for them, and soon they got in the 140 run mark in 45.5 overs.

    Captain’s Knock

England’s pitch being a helper’s hand to pacers and their swing balls, and the raining atmosphere magnified it to a great extent, purely making it a pitch for bowlers. In that situation, with 2 wickets down, Williamson took the charge and Taylor supported him. He was unbeaten at 52 of 89 balls, whereas Ross Taylor presented a fine knock of 47 of 100 balls, and also hit the match-winning boundary of the WTC final.

    The Kiwi Bowlers

Kiwi bowlers presented their outstanding performance at Southampton on the final day, where Kyle Jamieson dismissed both Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara. Trent Boult registered three wickets, along with Tim Southee with two, and Neil Wagner also had a wicket in his pocket.
