Conor McGregor is looking for a fight to fight when he returns to the UFC next year. As he prepares for a wheelchair boxing battle against impressionist Al Foran, the Irishman has set his sights on Max Holloway for a rematch.
The only time McGregor and Holloway met was in 2013, and ‘Notorious’ won by the decision on that occasion. Using his victory at UFC Vegas 42, the Hawaiian responded to a comment by McGregor in which he talked about how he thinks of his record as a fighter.
Max stated that he has an unblemished record, so he tossed the coin into the air in the hopes of reuniting with an old foe.
‘Notorious’ has filmed his recovery on social media following the injury he suffered at UFC 264. During the UFC Vegas 42 fight, he released a video in which he provoked the Hawaiian. McGregor, in true McGregor fashion, left the door open to seal about without saying anything.
McGregor left the door open for a rematch in 2022 without stating anything. ‘Blessed’ talks about his potential challenges after his fight with Yair Rodriguez. Holloway said that he is on Conor McGregor’s shortlist, which would entail a rematch after more than eight years: “I’m on Conor McGregor’s shortlist.”
UFC president Dana White said a rematch between Holloway and the Irishman would be impossible to make because McGregor must still complete the recovery process.
“Conor is still injured. Even talking about Conor is silly.”
While many in the MMA community have been calling for a rematch, the two are currently competing in different weight classes. McGregor’s last two fights have been at lightweight, while Holloway is still a top contender at 145 pounds.
Regardless, the two UFC veterans have recently traded barbs with one another. As a result, talk has grown that they would fight again.
