    UEFA Nations League: Italy defeats Netherlands 3-2 to ensure second consecutive third-place finish

    As Italy defeated the Netherlands 3-2 in UEFA Nations League, Roberto Mancini’s side ensured a second consecutive finish in third place. Inter fullback Federico Dimarco helped his side with a magnificent start as he hammered his strike beyond the Dutch goalkeeper Justin Bijlow to help the visitors get ahead.

    Following the dream starts from the visitors, the game picked up great excitement. 23-year-old Davide Frattesi doubled the lead right in the 20th minute, as he smashed his second-ever international goal.

    The Netherlands finally hammered back just after the interval, as Steven Bergwijn netted the ball in the 68th minute. 

    Italy has been a bit reluctant in the second half. However, thanks to Federico Chiesa managed to pull a third. Georginio Wijnaldum reduced the deficit by one just before the game proceeded to the stoppage time. 

    After some amazing game of football with the Dutch threatening for a last-minute twist, it was Italy who held their nerves to land on the winning side and finish third for two consecutive years.
