Barcelona FC shocked the whole world earlier this summer when they disclosed that the Argentine Legend Lionel Messi will no longer be a part of the club anymore, as Camp Nou couldn’t extend the contract for one of their greatest player ever, due to their financial condition. This eventually led to his transfer to the Ligue 1 giants, Paris Saint Germain, on a free transfer.

However, Jose Elias, the highest guarantor of Barcelona, disclosed that Lionel Messi’s exit, from the club, was not entirely based on sporting reasons, as other reasons led to this consequence.

    Jose Elias in an Interview

Jose Elias in an interview on the La Sotana show said that the departure of Messi was coming near and Barcelona had to create a new team which wouldn’t be possible with the presence of Messi. He has reached a certain age and to convert Barcelona FC into a victorious team was a post-Messi project for them. Hence the decision had to be made eventually.

Jose Elias further stated that Lionel Messi was crying for different things and not just for the reason he was leaving Barcelona. And on top of everything, he had made his life in this place, settling with his family.

The three reasons behind the exit of Messi from Barca

Elias started the three reasons behind Messi’s from Barcelona also admitting that the economic and organizational reasons were causes too.

First, he said that Barcelona had some financial limitations. And the three reasons coming from this base were – the organization of the club’s wage bill that the club had to tackle some reductions in salary which were not that easy to understand. Secondly, they didn’t have money to pay Messi and they were doing handstands to pay him in instalments. And number three goes for the fact they had to generate a new team giving a new excitement which was not possible with Messi inside the club.
