Jordi Alba announced on Wednesday that he would leave Barcelona at the season’s end, despite having a year left on his ongoing contract.
Jordi Alba had an amazing career in Barcelona: what did he say on his exit?
Alba had an amazing career with Barca. Ever since he moved here from Valencia in 2012, he has had 458 appearances in the Blaugrana shirt. He has won six La Liga titles, one Champions League, one UEFA Super Cup, one Club World Cup, four Spanish Super Cups, and five Copa del Rey championships.
Jordi Alba conducted a press conference following his announcement to leave Barca via MD on Wednesday evening. During the session, he admitted that he wished to remain at the club, but the best decision would be to part ways with his long-term club.
Talking about the same, he said,
“It’s a decision I have thought a lot about. When I said that I wanted to stay, it was the truth. Being honest with myself and with the club, I think the best thing to do is to step aside.
I have always tried to help the club. This is the best for all the parties. My relationship with everyone is exceptional. I’m going with a good feeling; I’ve given everything. It hasn’t been all rosy, but I’m leaving with my head held high.”
When will he have his final appearance for Barcelona?
Alba’s concluding appearance for Barcelona at the Spotify Camp Nou shall be on this weekend, scheduled against Mallorca. Following the game, he and Sergio Busquets will take a bow after their superb careers at the club. He is looking forward to it.
Jordi Alba said,
“There is one game left at the Spotify Camp Nou, which will be very special for me and also for Sergio.”
Alba has been one of the greats at Barcelona, the finest left back in their complete history.
