Sri Lanka secured an important to stay in the race for the knockouts of the ICC World Cup against England, and on the other hand, the poor form of the Englishmen continues. Despite the off form of the Englishmen, no one thought that Sri Lanka would defeat the defending champions with ease, but indeed, they were successful in doing it and doing it with ease.

Sri Lanka beating England by 8 wickets

Sri Lanka beat England by 8 wickets with relative ease. Despite the decent start of England, they weren’t able to turn that flow into a big score; rather, the Sri Lankan bowlers succeeded in taking wickets at frequent intervals. As mentioned, Jonny Bairstow and Dawid Maland gave England a good start, but with their departure toward the pavilion, no batter stood strong against the bowling lineup of Sri Lanka. Though Ben Stokes remained an exception here who tried to take England to a good score slowly and steadily with his 73 balls 43 run inning, but he too got out, and England eventually got limited to only 156.

    Sri Lanka staying strong

Sri Lanks have continued to stay strong in the competition and are still high on hopes for qualifying for the knockouts in this World Cup. They are currently in the 5th position at the points table, and if they continue playing well like this, they can surely qualify for the knockouts.

Once upon a time, Sri Lanka had been one of the strongest teams in the world but that thing vanished for years. However in recent times Sri Lanka have been proving themselves well again, especially in limited overs game and this also reflected when they won the Asia Cup last year.

Indeed the Sri Lankan team have been doing well in the recent times in terms of both bowling and batting department. Though their captain Shanaka got injured and got ruled out of the tournament but they are still fighting from their heart to stay in the tournament and make something big.
