Searching through the files of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, which was just released on PC, it was discovered that there were references to a “PlayStation PC Launcher.” Although nothing has been verified as of yet, it might be a sign that Sony intends to release a separate launcher for PC in the future.

The prospect of Sony introducing and integrating PlayStation Network compatibility into its PC titles was previously revealed by Video Game Chronicle, which has confirmed the PC files and references to the PlayStation PC Launcher. The source was able to confirm that Spider-Man Remastered makes mention of “PSNAccountLinked” and “PSNLinkingEntitlements.” Additionally, it mentions that customers might soon be able to cross-purchase titles for the PS5 and PC.

Currently, using a PC does not require a PlayStation Network account. Additionally, console save data cannot be transferred to a PC. While accomplishments are available in the PC versions of PlayStation games, they are not synced with trophies on the PlayStation Network. All of this might alter in the future, making life easier for PlayStation and PC customers.

Since releasing several of its console-exclusive games on PC, Sony has become more transparent. Competition from companies like Microsoft has compelled the company to switch up its business strategy. The business has made several of its most prized PlayStation games, including God of War, Days Gone, and Horizon Zero Dawn, available to PC players.

2018 saw the initial release of Marvel’s Spider-Man on the PlayStation 4. The game would be made available on the PlayStation 5 two years later as Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered. The game has sold over 30 million units since its release, and while Sony is profiting handsomely, it presently splits some of that money with PC distribution firms like Steam (30%) and Epic Games (12%). There is no disputing that publishing its games on PC has enormous financial potential, so it will be interesting to see how Sony moves forward in this regard.
