Sony, one of the most well-known gaming businesses, recently revealed the broad idea of its roadmap for the next two to three years. Sony revealed at its annual investor day that by 2025, half of its games will be available on smartphones or computers. This will directly result in the Play Station titles being canceled.

According to current data, 105 of Sony’s gaming titles are accessible for mobile devices. In the next three years, the corporation plans to double the percentage. Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Jim Ryan stated that the company’s expansion into mobile and PC will allow it to transcend the stereotype of being solely focused on consoles. He went on to explain that Sony is getting ready to compete with other businesses in a variety of categories.

Furthermore, Sony’s mobile game expansion will be managed by a new business unit under Sony Interactive Entertainment, which will be led by Nicola Sebastiani, the former Apple Arcade content chief.

Sony offering its titles for smartphones is going to be a gamechanger for the industry

While EA and Epic Games have already established themselves, it will be intriguing to see how Sony fares. However, it is evident that by the time Sony plans to enter the smartphone game market, rival studios will have a foothold in the sector. The debut of Apex Legends Mobile and the introduction of exclusive characters for the mobile edition is a recent examples of this. Not only that, but EA is also working on a mobile version of Battlefield 2042 for smartphone users.
