According to rumors, Sergio Aguero, a former Manchester City striker, would be granted an ambassadorial post with the club after his retirement. At the Nou Camp on Wednesday, the Argentine acknowledged that a heart issue had forced him to retire.
However, since retiring from football after being diagnosed with cardiac arrhythmia, the iconic striker has already received four job offers, one of which is at his former club.
The Ambassador Role
After ten years with City, Aguero joined Barcelona on a free transfer in the summer and has opted to sacrifice the final year of his £100,000-per-week contract at the Nou Camp. According to Argentine site Ole, he will not be out of work for long, as the Premier League champions are prepared to offer him a role as a global ambassador.
According to sources, Aguero has received three additional bids, two of which came from his motherland.
A position with one of the country’s national youth teams, as well as a seat on manager Lionel Scaloni’s coaching team for the World Cup, is thought to be an option. A post as a television analyst is also thought to be on the table for Aguero if he wants to step away from direct participation with club and country.
About Aguero as a Player
After 10 trophy-laden years at the Etihad, Aguero became the club’s all-time leading goalscorer with 260 goals in 390 appearances, and he is fourth all-time in the Premier League goalscoring list with 184 goals.
City appears to want to thank him for his contributions to the club and feel that his iconic reputation will allow him to interact with fans all over the world. However, it is uncertain whether Aguero will accept any of the offers, as he is said to want to take some time off before making his next move.
After joining Barcelona in the summer, Aguero only played 165 minutes for the club. He was forced to leave a home game against Alaves in October before halftime due to chest discomfort and was later diagnosed with heart arrhythmia. He was supposed to recuperate for three months, but he revealed this week that his playing days were over.
