Players with Consecutive Double Tons in Test Cricket

Test cricket is considered the ultimate form of cricket across all formats. Various records are there in this form, formed by many legends. The highest run-getter here is the God of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar, which 15,921, whereas the highest wicket-taker in test cricket is the Sri Lankan legendary spinner Muttiah Muralitharan.

Among numerous records, a unique one is that if any player has consecutive double hundreds in test cricket or not. However, the answer is yes. There are only 6 legends of cricket who have created this history and only one who achieved this feat twice. Check their names below.

Virat Kohli

The present Indian captain, Virat Kohli ranks 6^th in this list of consecutive double tons in Test cricket. He did the same in 2017, where one came on 24^th November, while the other came on 2^nd December. His first score was 213 versus Srilanka at Nagpur, and the second was against the same team, unbeaten on 225 in Delhi.

Michael Clarke

The Australian former captain, Michael Clarke is the fifth player to pocket this record, who did it in 2012 against South Africa. His first score was 259 not out in Brisbane on 9^th November, and the second came on 22^nd November in Adelaide.

Kumar Sangakkara

The Sri Lankan legend and wicket-keeper batsman Kumar Sangakkara built this record in July 2007. Both of his double tons were an unbeaten 200 and 222, and both of them came in the second innings of the respective test matches. Sangakkara scored both the tons against Bangladesh on 3^rd and 11^th July, at Colombo and Kandy respectively.

Vinod Kambli

Another great former player of the Indian cricket team, Vinod Kambli built the record in 1993, on 19^th Feb and 13^th March respectively. It was against England when he scored the first ton which was 224. The second one came against Zimbabwe, which was 227.

Sir Donald Bradman

The player to hold the second position on this list is the greatest of all time – Sir Donald Bradman. His first ton in this record came on July 20, 1934, which was a triple ton of 304. The second-century came on 18^th August. The opposition team was England, and the venues were Leeds, and The Oval respectively.

Wally Hammond

The player who first built the record of consecutive double tons in Test cricket, is the Englishman, Wally Hammond. Another unique thing about this legend is, he did this record two times, one in 1928, another in 1933. In this first record, both the centuries came against Australia in Sydney and Melbourne respectively. On 14^th December 1928, he scored 251, and on 29^th Deb, he had a magnificent inning of 200.

The second time he repeated this record in 1933, was against New Zealand on Christchurch and Auckland on 24^th and 31^st March respectively. His first score was 227, and the second ton was a breathtaking triple of 336 not out.
