Manchester United were the favourites heading into the Europa League final against Villarreal. But Unai Emery has pulled off yet another masterstroke to win his 4th Europa League title.

Villarreal took the lead by Moreno’s goal and made it hard for United to find the back of the net. Cavani was finally successful in finding the net in the second half and equalised for the English side. Villarreal showed great defensive character to keep United at bay, and during extra time Villarreal looked dangerous as they were showing intent to win the game.

However, the match went into penalties, and both the teams were hitting the ball perfectly into the net, and it was down to the two goalkeepers at last. Rulli scored from the spot and, in turn, saved De Gea’s penalty and was the hero of the night as Villarreal won their first European trophy.
