Nico Gonzales will join FC Barcelona‘s first team, according to the club. Following his promotion, the former B team player will receive a new first-team number, allegedly the number 14.
The player came to the club from Monaneros when he was 11 years old. His development at La Masia has been excellent after capturing the attention of scouts at an early age.

Nico was an elite player in the B team system after only seven years of training at the academy. His profile was compared to Sergio Busquets’, but after his senior call-up, that perception changed dramatically.
With a height of 188 cm, he is one of the tallest midfielders in a team known for its diminutive and nimble players. He’s made the most of his height and physique, and he’s a constant presence in the middle of the park for Barcelona.
Ronald Koeman first summoned him up for preseason, where he scored a fantastic goal against Juventus. In Barcelona’s league opener against Real Sociedad, his antics were rewarded with his official debut. Nico hasn’t been able to turn back since then.

Nico has appeared in 17 La Liga games for the club, scoring twice and assisting once. He has swiftly disproved the notion that his style is best suited to the defensive midfield since he has excelled in the attacking third.
With his promotion, the 20-year-old can now start without fear of violating La Liga’s rule limiting the number of youth players in the starting lineup. Furthermore, Xavi will be able to give more young players opportunities to succeed as a result of this. With Nico now a member of the first squad, all eyes are on Gavi, whose contract renewal and promotion are nearing completion.
