English Premier League giants Manchester United may be in the process of acquiring a new owner.

The current owners, the Glazers family, are considering options to sell the club. An asking price of around £3.75 billion is reportedly enough to hand over the Red Devil to a new owner, with Dubai’s Sovereign Wealth fund now the frontrunner in buying the club. British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe is also in contention over buying the club.

Wealth funds in Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia are also keen to buy Manchester United amid protests by Manchester United fans against the current owner. Rumor has it that Emirates is also eyeing the chance to pick up the Red Devils. As for Jim Ratcliffe, the British billionaire is looking to seize the opportunity after failing to buy Chelsea over the summer.

Manchester United fans have been articulating their views about the current owner for years. The Glazers Out protests were widespread and gained popularity, especially at Manchester United’s big games. Fans have voiced their dissatisfaction with the owners who bought United in 2005. Fans claim that the owners did not properly invest in the club, however, they receive special dividends each year.

Who Could be the Potential Buyer of Manchester United?

It had previously been reported that the Glazers were set to sell a minority stake of the club, but after 17 years of debt to the club and the club’s many years of being in debt, they are now considering selling it to the highest bidder.

Jim Ratcliffe’s spokesperson told the Times, “If the club is for sale, Jim is definitely a potential buyer. If something like this was possible, we would be interested in talking with a view to long-term ownership.”

“This is not about the money that has been spent or not spent. Jim is looking at what can be done now and, knowing how important the club is to the city, it feels like the time is right for a reset.”
