Wizards of the Coast is commemorating the 30th anniversary of Magic The Gathering by outlining its plans for the game through 2026. As part of the Universes Beyond effort, these ambitions include crossovers with big video game properties like Fallout and Final Fantasy, in addition to new original material.
Magic The Gathering is one of the most popular collecting card games ever. The tabletop version has remained popular, while the digital editions of Magic The Gathering have also proven to be successful. Wizards of the Coast hopes to keep the momentum going with new releases over the next few years, including those that video game enthusiasts may be particularly interested in collecting.
Fallout Commander Decks will be available in Magic The Gathering in March 2024, according to Wizards of the Coast.
Fallout’s different factions, as well as its renowned super mutants, will be represented in the commander decks. Then, in 2025, Magic: The Gathering and Final Fantasy will merge, with all main series Final Fantasy games represented. Final Fantasy cards will be playable in Magic: The Gathering Arena, it has been revealed.
Wizards of the Coast also mentioned the previously announced Magic The Gathering/Assassin’s Creed crossover. The Assassin’s Creed set, like the Final Fantasy set, will include all of the Assassin’s Creed video games that have been released thus far. Beginning in July 2024, Assassin’s Creed fans can begin collecting the franchise’s Magic: The Gathering cards.
Magic The Gathering enthusiasts can check out the Magic: The Gathering – Doctor Who set, which includes four Commander decks. Then, in Q4 2023, Magic The Gathering will collaborate with Jurassic World to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Jurassic Park’s theatrical premiere. The cards in this set, dubbed Lost Caverns of Ixalan, will reflect all six Jurassic World films that have been released thus far.
