The 16th IPL’s 15th game was an absolute nail-biter, as Lucknow SuperGiants pulled a last-ball victory against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Batting first at the M Chinnaswamy stadium, RCB put up a mammoth total of 212 runs on the board, just at the loss of two wickets. Former captain, Virat Kohli was awesome as he smashed yet another fifty in this season.

Virat Kohli is the fifth batter with the most sixes in IPL history

In their previous game at the home ground against Mumbai, Virat Kohli smashed 82*. The game against LSG was again great for him as he hit 61 off 44 balls. The 34-year-old batter has hit 227 sixes in just 218 IPL innings, thus making it to the fifth place in the most sixes list in the league’s history. With that, he crossed the Mumbai batter Kieron Pollard who has registered 223 sixes in 171 innings and retired from IPL at the end of last season. The RCB stalwart has already stroked nine impeccable sixes in this edition so far.

Virat Kohli now stands in fifth place in hitting the most sixes in the tournament. He is just five behind the legendary MS Dhoni, who has 232 maximums in his cabinet.

Before Kohli, we have the former Indian and current CSK skipper Dhoni on the list. The present Indian and MI skipper Rohit Sharma comes third in the list who has registered 241 sixes in the tournament so far. Second name there is the former RCB player and the South African legend AB de Villiers who has 251 sixes to his name from 170 innings. The Caribbean star Chris Gayle leads the list with an incredible 357 sixes from just 170 IPL innings.

Other than Dhoni, Kohli and Rohit, Australian great David Warner is the only active player with more than 200 sixes in the IPL.
