Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Delhi Capitals in the second last game of the group stage in IPL 2021. RCB played well in the match and gained victory but still couldn’t go at the top due to the net run rate. They have the same points with CSK, which is 18.
Even they had to beat CSK in the run rate race to secure the second position which was not even possible as the difference between this net run rate of the respective teams is huge. However, it is good for them as they won their last game before the finals, and will play in the playoffs with a positive mindset.
The match
DC batted first and put up a score of 164 on the board with the loss of 5 wickets. Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan gave a good start to their team, scoring 48 of 31 and 43 of 35 respectively. Also with the good knock from Shimron Hetmyer of 29 of 22 at the end, DC reached a good total at the pitch of the Dubai International stadium.
In reply, RCB openers collapsed as both Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal got out on 4 and 0 respectively. However, Srikar Bharat got it easily and played a magnificent inning of 78 of 52 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes. Also, the man in form, Glenn Maxwell played efficiently as he is doing in this IPL, scoring 51 of 33 balls with 8 fours. However, despite two half-centuries in this innings, the match went to the last ball where RCB gained the victory.
RCB to play in the Eliminator
RCB is set to lock horns with KKR in the Eliminator, which will take place at the Sharjah Stadium on October 11. KKR on the other hand has become a tough competitor for their marvelous performance in the second phase of IPL 2021. Fans are hoping to see a great match between these two teams.
