PBKS earned a comfortable win by 6 wickets against the Chennai Super Kings, this Thursday. The Kings’ captain KL Rahul’s extraordinary inning of 98* in just 42 balls helped the side get a decent victory and climb up to the fifth position in the points table.
After being sent to bat, CSK could put up a total of 134 on the board with the loss of 6 wickets. Faf du Plessis played his part once again, smashing 76 runs in 55 balls. However, the lack of support from the other batters could not help the team set a mammoth target. Arshdeep Singh and Chris Jordan picked up 2 wickets each while Shami and Ravi Bishnoi, each picked 1.
Performance by PBKS
The PBKS played it clean from the very beginning and hardly allowed the tension to build up. They achieved the target smoothly by 13 overs, losing just 4 wickets. It was completely a KL Rahul show who scored a jaw-dropping 98* runs at a staggering strike rate of 233.33 with 7 fours and 8 sixes included in it.
No doubt he received the Player of the Match award. Shardul Thakur bowled a decent spell conceding 28 runs in 3 overs and picking up 3 wickets, still, it couldn’t stop the KL storm from happening. It helped Punjab improve its net run rate to a considerable extent.
CSK facing their third defeat before the finals
The Super Kings have qualified for the playoffs much before and are currently in the second position, however, it’s their third consecutive loss before the finale week. The audience is even sad over MSD’s bad patch with the bat and is eager to see the old flair from his bat. Fans will be waiting to see how the team executes a brilliant performance in the playoffs!
