PBKS a low total in the second phase of the Indian Premier League against SRH. They batted first and scored 125 for the loss of 7 wickets, at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
Though it looked like SRH were totally in the game, PBKS fought back brilliantly in the second half and won the game by 5 runs. With this, the Punjab Kings are still in the equation of playoffs. On the other hand, SRH have been knocked out from the fight earlier.
The match
Though Sharjah is considered as a ground of batting pitch and fours and sixes are a daily affair in this stadium. However, fans were not able to see much of them in this low-scoring thriller. Punjab Kings batted first with where the Universe Boss, Chris Gayle came back to the team. However, the West Indian legend couldn’t deliver for long as the dangerous Afgan leg spinner Rashid Khan dismissed him soon.
None of the batters from PBKS could stand for long and the low scores of everyone helped to reach a total of 125. In reply, Mohammed Shami for Punjab was violent in his bowling and dismissed the dangerous David Warner and Kane Williamson in close intervals.
From Sunrisers Hyderabad, only Wriddhiman Saha scored 31 of 37 and also Jason Holder was the actual lone wolf for the orange army, who scored 47 of 29 with 5 sixes, and for that, the match went to the last ball.
Though they needed 7 runs from 1 ball, and a six was needed for a tie. Though Nathan Ellis bowled beautifully instead of getting a six off the first ball that he bowled to Holder. He bowled some good yorkers to help PBKS win by 5 runs.
Despite PBKS’s victory, Jason Holder was awarded as the man of the match for his brilliant innings and also for taking 3 wickets in 4 overs and just conceding 19 runs.
