5G speeds may help you make up your mind about whether it’s worthwhile to upgrade from an iPhone 13 Pro to an iPhone 14 Pro. This is because, while using Verizon’s and T-5G Mobile’s networks, comparison testing by SpeedSmart has revealed that the iPhone 14 Pro can reach up to 38% faster 5G speeds than the iPhone 13 Pro.
Although there may not be a noticeable difference between the upload and download rates, the iPhone 14 Pro clearly outperforms its predecessor in terms of download speed. Realistically speaking, this should imply that using the newest iPhone will be quicker while doing things like streaming 4K movies on the go or downloading a very large game to play while travelling.
And for people like me who have a sluggish home internet connection, this increase in 5G speeds would allow for faster downloads and streaming when tethering devices like a PS5 or Xbox Series X to an iPhone 5G hotspot; this can make the time it takes to download a large game go from excruciating to more tolerable.
Along with faster 5G speeds, SpeedSmart also found that the iPhone 14 Pro had lower latency, with a ‘ping’ on T-5G Mobile’s network of 52.88 milliseconds compared to the iPhone 13 Pro’s 62.20 ms.
Anyone using a 5G connection to play competitive online multiplayer games like Call of Duty Mobile should benefit from this. The adoption of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X65 modem chip, an upgrade from the Snapdragon X60 used by the iPhone 13 Pro, is the cause of this general improvement in 5G performance. In addition to offering faster speeds, the processor is also more power-efficient, which should allow the iPhone 14 Pro to use 5G while using less battery power.
