Opening Night Live at Gamescom 2023 featured a little bit of everything. Gamers have a lot to look forward to, from fresh new announcements to a deeper look at previously announced titles. This includes games like Starfield and Mortal Kombat 1, which are set to be released in the coming weeks.
Here are some of the best games announced during Gamescom 2023 ONL
Starfield
Starfield may be coming out in a few weeks (September 6 for the standard version), but it hasn’t stopped people from getting excited about it. Todd Howard, the Game Director at Bethesda, not only made his debut appearance at Gamescom, but players were also treated to a live-action trailer for the game. Howard went on to promote not only Bethesda’s newest game, but also some in-game action.
COD: Modern Warfare III
Modern Warfare III, the latest installment in the Call of Duty franchise, will be released on November 10th. Players got a closer look at the game’s opening level, Operation 627, during Gamescom. Surprisingly, this level is placed in Verdansk, the original Call of Duty: Warzone map.
Alan Wake 2
Fans of the survival horror genre are looking forward to the release of Alan Wake 2 on October 17th. We got a look at the game’s gameplay at Gamescom. One important feature appears to be how the game will combine live-action footage with in-game action. It has a ‘Quantum Break’ flavour to it, which was also created by Remedy Entertainment.
Mortal Kombat 1
Another major release anticipated for September is Mortal Kombat 1. The game already includes some of the most popular characters in the series’ history, as well as a new cast of ‘Kameo’ characters. Sindel and General Shao will join the lineup, while Motaro and Shujinko will return as Kameo characters, it was confirmed at Gamescom.
Assassins Creed Mirage
The latest game in the long-running franchise, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, will be released on October 5th. Unlike many other open-world games, Assassin’s Creed’s scenery is as significant as its people and story. The latest Gamescom video gives us a clearer glimpse into Baghdad, the setting for Assassin’s Creed Mirage. The game will be released on October 5.
