Escape from Tarkov is a first-person shooter that aims to bridge the gap between hyper-realistic games like Arma and more ground-based tactical shooters like Insurgency, creating an experience unlike any other. On Steam, the game is now in beta, and preordering the game grants access to the beta.
The performance part of the game is a matter of dispute. A lot of it revolves around one feature that’s currently missing: DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) support, which is designed to fully utilize the capabilities of GeForce RTX GPUs. Given that it has yet to arrive, one would wonder when it will arrive.
According to CEO Nikita Buyanov of Battlestate Games (developers of Tarkov), DLSS will be coming to the game. As it has successfully passed the testing steps, the feature will be available in Escape from Tarkov this week (or the next week, if any last-minute work needs to be done). At least, that’s what the stream’s phrasing suggested when it announced the update’s impending release.
Once the new update is installed, players will have a choice between one of four DLSS modes after enabling it:
- DLSS disabled
- DLSS Quality
- DLSS Balanced
- DLSS Performance
Given the data presented in the podcast, it is clear that Performance is designed to employ DLSS and is solely concerned about framerate, not quality. Quality, on the other hand, seeks to force the game to use its highest quality settings. The balance will strive to incorporate elements of both while not favoring one over the other.
It’s as simple as going into the graphics settings to enable the option. The DLSS parameters will be between Resampling and HBAO after running the update. Following that, you can choose which of the DLSS modes you want to utilize. On PC, Escape From Tarkov is now available.
