Dean Henderson’s club journey
Dean Henderson is now a popular loan-term goalkeeper in English football. The Manchester United academy goalkeeper has already served for Stockport County, Grimsby Town, Shrewsbury Town and Sheffield United (twice) all on loan.
In the 2018/19 season, Henderson won the EFL Championship Golden Glove after his hands successfully helped Sheffield United to achieve promotion for the next PL season after finishing as the runners-up in the EFL Championship 2018/19.
On their Premier League return, Sheffield United once again signed Henderson on a loan for the 2019/20 season. The English goalkeeper had another fine term for that club.
Earlier in the 2020/21 season, Henderson signed a new long-term contract with the Manchester United that will run till 2025 summer.
Out of his 29 appearances for Manchester United, Henderson experienced 26 games in the 2020/21 season. In that season, he also impressed as a goalkeeper for this big club. But he hardly got any chances in the last season (2021/22) as he only managed thee appearances for the club.
Nottingham Forest are set to add Henderson through a loan-to-buy deal
While Nottingham Forest are getting ready to experience its first Premier League season in the 21st century, they are interested in signing Dean Henderson on loan ahead of the new season.
According to the recent report of Fabrizio Romano, Henderson’s loan contract can also see a buy option for Nottingham Forest. The buying valuation can be around £20m. Meanwhile, Romano’s report also believes that Henderson is also considering this loan move.
As the 28-year-old Congo goalkeeper Brice Samba is set to leave Forest for the French Ligue 1 side Lens, Forest are busy adding the goalkeeper option and feel Henderson can be perfectly fit in the team.
Though the Premier League club Newcastle United is also reportedly interested in Henderson, the Tricky Trees are likely to win the battle soon.
