    Chris Morris, IPL’s most expensive player retires from all forms of cricket

    South African great Chris Morris announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. The all-rounder announced his retirement with the IPL auction ahead just 1 month left. The star cricketer became the most expensive player of IPL 2021, as he was bought by Rajasthan Royals at a massive amount of 16.25 crores which is the most in the history of the Indian Premier League. Reports state that Chris Morris will be taking up the coaching role of the Titans, the T20 side of South Africa, for the upcoming season.

    Chris Morris stated in his Instagram post that on this day (on January 11, 2022), he is announcing his retirement from all forms of cricket. He thanked all of them who have played a part in their journey, whether it is big or small, it has been a fun ride. Lastly, he added that he is delighted to take up the coaching role at Titan.

    IPL Performances

    Chris Morris had quite good stats in IPL. He played 81 IPL matches, out of which he scored 618 runs with an average of 22.07, and also bagged 95 wickets. In the last season, i.e., in 2021, he played 11 matches out of which, he took 15 wickets and scored 67 runs for Rajasthan Royals.

    For National Team

    For his national team, i.e., for South Africa, he appeared in 4 tests, 42 ODIs, as well as 23 T20s. He debuted back in 2012 for South Africa, in a T20 international against New Zealand, and played his first One Day International in 2013. The all-rounder appeared for the first time in test cricket in 2016 when England came to South Africa. He played his last international match 3 years back in 2019.
