The IFFHS (International Federation of Football History and Statistics) revealed their XI U-20 team of the year. Bukayo Saka and Mason Greenwood with their good performances have secured their places in the team. Also, it is a good start to see that Saka and Greenwood are the only two stars from Premier League to get selected in this top 11.
The award was introduced in 2020, where different footballers secure their position based on the stats across a range of categories chosen by the organization, i.e. the IFFHS.
The 11 players selected in IFFHS
The 11 players selected for the tournament has developed themselves and have excelled in the last 1 year. It is the second instalment, the first was in 2020, and from the former team, only two players have been retained in the new one including Eduardo Camavinga of Real Madrid as well as his teammate Rodrygo getting the chance for the second time.
Along with that, Saka 20 and Greenwood 20 are the only English players. Borussia Dortmund player Jude Bellingham secured a place alongside Saka among the four-man midfielders. Alongside the midfielders including Saka, Bellingham, Camavinga the fourth man to secure the position is Pedri, who is the latest Golden boy of European football.
In the attacking position beside Greenwood and Rodrygo, there is Jamal Musiala of Bayern Munich. Also, Badashile, Nuno Mendes, and Eric Garcia gained the 3 positions in defenders. In the goalkeepers’ area, Shakhtar Donetsk Anatoliy Trubin was given to handle the job.
