The Bollywood track was setting its tone back by several backs to back blockbusters produced in 2021, however, people almost forgot that the COVID spike is still not over. For the third time in this country, COVID has shown its ferocious colour, and consequently, biggies like RRR and Radhe Shyam has to postpone their initial release dates. Big business will be hugely affected due to this COVID situation yet again.
The post phase of the second wave of COVID19, Bell Bottom of Akshay Kumar was the first hit in a theatrical release. Though the results weren’t much bright, it was Sooryavanshi that smashed the box office with a huge collection and became the first blockbuster after the second wave of COVID in theatre.
Following that, came the Magnificent Spider-Man No Way Home, Pushpa, which had a magnificent collection at the box office. Also, Ranveer Singh’s 83 had a good collection which was also a critically appreciated movie. However, no one knew at that time that the super hits were just a matter of time.
Various estimations on the Box Office
Various sources state that the film industry is going to face a massive amount of dent due to the increasing of COVID cases due to the hit of the third wave of the global pandemic. Based on various predictions, it is estimated that around 150 crores, while RRR has the potential to earn around 200 crores.
Along with that, biggies like Bachchan Pandey (200 crores), Prithviraj (150 crores), Shamshera (150 crores), Gangubai Kathiawadi (70 to 80 crores), Jayeshbhai Jordaar (80 crores), and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (75 to 80 crores), sums up to be 1000 crores.
Along with that, big estimated blockbusters like KGF Chapter 2 – Hindi (150 to 200 crores), Laal Singh Chaddha (300 to 350 crores), Heropanti 2 (100 to 120 crores), Maidaan (150 to 200 crores), and Runway 34 (150 crores), are also on the verge on rescheduling their release dates, which might also move in the second phase of the 2022 year.
Hoping for the betterment of the situation
It is hoped that the situation around will get better soon and the number of COVID19 cases will decline. However, if it doesn’t happen, the box office will certainly suffer a dent of over 2000 crores during the first two quarters of the present year, i.e., in 2022.
