Mumbai City FC have confirmed yet another signing for the upcoming season. Bhaskar Roy, 28, has become the latest to join the Islanders. He has signed a contract for two years until 2024 with the Sky Blues and will be making his debut in the ISL.

Alongside Mohammad Nawaz and Phurba Lachenpa, Roy will be the third goalkeeper to join the club. It is as of yet unclear whether he will be starting over Nawaz as the number one. But with the addition of another keeper, Des Buckingham will have some key decisions to make.

“It’s a big day for me and my family. It’s a culmination of my hard work and my efforts to play at the highest possible level, and representing a massive club like Mumbai City is a great honour for me,” Bhaskar Roy said.

Roy was very impressive for Rajasthan United in the season that just ended. He won the Golden Glove in the I-League for the 21/22 season. He made 44 saves and kept eight clean sheets in Rajasthan United’s debut campaign in the competition.

The player has represented Indian Navy, KFA Southern Samity and Services Football Team, winning consecutive Santosh Trophy titles with Services in 2015 and 2016. Due to his experience, he will make a strong case to start. However, the brilliance of Nawaz can also not be understated. At the very least, he could be the second choice keeper for the team.
