At the Globe Soccer Awards, Karim Benzema received the Men’s Player of the Year along with Alexia Putellas who won the Women’s Player of the Year. Dubai hosted the ceremony. After getting the UEFA’s prize for the finest player of last season, and the Ballon d’Or, this came as yet another individual award for Benzema.
People from 225 countries across all five continents voted for the award. The staggering 33 million votes were cast to pick the finalists, who were decided by a jury, made up of football personalities.
A Real Madrid party from Benzema?
The best coach award went to Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid was awarded the best club and Florentino Perez was rewarded as the best president.
Jose Angel Sanchez, general director for Los Blancos, received the best CEO prize, while Real Madrid scouting director Jose Angel Sanchez got the best scout of the year award.
Karim Benzema, Real Madrid’s president, and Ancelotti couldn’t travel to Dubai but shared a video to express their gratitude towards the awards.
“The last campaign was an unforgettable, fantastic season, in which we showed that this club never gives up and we deserved to win our 14th.”
Women’s Player of the Year: Alexia Putellas
Following up her Ballon d’Or, Alexia Putellas won the Women’s Player of the Year, with the Barcelona midfielder cross-passing England’s Beth Mead and Colombia’s Linda Caicedo. She wasn’t present at the gala, but none between she and Barcelona sent a video either. Again, you grabbed the title for the best Women’s Club of the Year, last year which was owned by Blaugrana.
Emerging player of the Year
Napoli striker Victor Oshimen was awarded the Emerging Player of the Year. The Tiktok trophy for the best player of the year, picked exclusively by the fans was received by Mohammed Salah.
