In the Next Generation Cup 2022, Indian Super League (ISL) teams Bengaluru FC and Kerala Blasters FC’s reserve teams suffered defeats in the semi-finals. While Bengaluru fought against the English club Leicester City, another English club Tottenham Hotspur thrashed Blasters.
Two Indian teams Bengaluru FC U21 and Kerala Blasters U21 are participating in the Next Generation Cup 2022 in the United Kingdom to gain valuable experience.
Last Wednesday (27th July), both the Indian teams played in the semi-finals of the Next Generation Cup 2022. While Bengaluru had a 6-3 loss against Leicester, Spurs handed a 7-0 defeat to Blasters.
Leicester City 6 – Bengaluru FC 3
Competing in the Midlands leg, Bengaluru FC set an example of incredible fight-back as they once went down to 6-0 before replying with three late goals.
The Foxes started in a strong way as Kian Pennant’s brace (13’, 27’), William Alves’ single (18’) and Chris Popov’s hat-trick (21’, 52’, 61) helped them to take the 6-0 lead.
But, later Sivasakthi Narayanan scored a brace (67’, 73’) and Damaitphang Lyngdoh netted once (68’) to end the game with a better scoreline.
On Saturday (30th July), the Blues will face the English team Nottingham Forest for third place in their pool in this Next Generation Cup 2022.
Tottenham Hotspur 7 – Kerala Blasters 0
In the London leg, Blasters had a tough day against the Spurs as they experienced a 7-0 defeat. Jahziah Linton (31′), hat-trick star Jaden Williams (32′, 86’ pen, 88’), Max Mcknight (57′), Tom Bloxham (61′) and George Abbott (74′) scored the goals for the Lilywhites.
Blasters will now play against the English team Crystal Palace in the third place of their pool in this competition on this Saturday (30th July).
