The Asia Cup will commence very soon and the meeting for the Indian squad is set to be held on 8th August. The selectors will have a meetup in Mumbai, offline for the selection procedure. On the other hand, Skipper Rohit Sharma and Coach Rahul Dravid will join the meeting in Florida. Arshdeep Singh can be a new addition to the squad. There are speculations of Hardik Pandya being the permanent Vice-Captain of the T20 Set up.
As per a top BCCI official, “Selectors have been selecting the squad via virtual meetings. But this time they will physically meet and select the Indian squad for Asia Cup. We are confident KL Rahul will recover for the event. The team needs his quality of player,”
All the teams have to submit their squads by the 8th of August, the deadline set by the Asian Cricket Council. The BCCI selectors will have a meetup on that day itself, in the afternoon, to select their squad. Both the issues are going to be discussed in the meeting.
BCCI believes that sooner, KL Rahul will improve his fitness before the Asia Cup Starts. KL Rahul is now Covid-19 negative and will start practicing with the team very soon.
On the other hand, Virat Kohli is on a break. Although the selectors desired to pick Kohli for the Zimbabwe tour but he continued with his break. The selectors will have to pick up Virat Kohli based on his previous performances and hopefully, he’ll make a comeback in this tournament.
It’s predicted that the squad for the Asia Cup will be the same as the squad that will travel to Australia for the T20 World Cup in October-December.
t is obvious that team picked for the Asia Cup will almost be the same that will travel to Australia for the T20 World Cup in October- December. SO the selectors have to be very wise while choosing. The Asia Cup will start on August 27 and the finale will be played on September 11. The always anticipated clash between India and Pakistan will be on August 28.
