The creators of A Plague Tale: Requiem announce that this game will conclude the series just before its release. A Plague Tale: Innocence, the debut title from Asobo Studio, was a surprise success that won fans over with its grim setting, ominous mood, and central sibling relationship between Hugo and Amicia De Rune. The sequel will continue aspects of the storylines from the first game, such as Hugo’s supernatural rat abilities.
Fans may be pondering whether A Plague Tale: Requiem will be the final installment of this game as its release draws near. Game director Kevin Choteau addressed a lot of the fans’ burning questions in a recent interview with the PlayStation blog. This provides information on how the game’s AI and rat behavior, as well as the plot and its characters, have changed over time. He added that this might also be the series’ last episode.
Choteau claims that “for now,” the series closes with A Plague Tale: Requiem without providing any further details.
But he adds that he and the production team are waiting to see how the game is received before making a choice. According to Choteau, the players ultimately determine how the game is made; hence, if they didn’t like what this entry did, they should “do something new.”
However, Choteau mentions that he will be celebrating by holding a huge party at the studio as the group waits for the reviews of A Plague Tale: Requiem. He claimed that over the game’s three-year production cycle, the team has polished it into what Requiem is now by taking the feedback and criticism from the previous game into consideration. Choteau declares that he was extremely happy and pleased with the small development team, expressing his hope that the player will like the sequel and get what they desired from it.
In terms of gameplay and plot, the game promises to be much more ambitious than its predecessor. If this is the series finale, it appears as if it will end on a high note rather than a hardly audible squeak.
