Indian pacer Ashish Nehra and former India coach Gary Kirsten are likely to be part of the newly-introduced Lucknow IPL franchise. However, both Nehra and Kirsten haven’t confirmed it yet, as they are bound by confidentiality clauses.

IPL 2022 – RPSG to appoint Lucknow franchise coaching staff

The RPSG group, which previously owned Rising Pune Supergiants in IPL, will handle the Lucknow franchise now. Sanjeev Goenka, the owner of the RPSG, said that it was good to be back in the IPL, and he was delighted. He further added that they had to build a good team and perform. The Lucknow franchise is too tight-mouthed about the involvement of Nehra and Kirsten.

The duo has played a vital role in winning the 2011 World Cup with Team India. Both of them are super qualified for the posts of the head coach and consultant. Nehra has tons of experience playing IPL and international cricket matches. Earlier in IPL 2018, Nehra was appointed as a bowling coach of RCB, while Kirsten was the head coach of the franchise in 2019. Kirsten also coached India from 2008 to 2011, which is said to be a golden era for the Indian cricket team.

How do Ahmedabad and Lucknow franchises add spice to the IPL 2022?

IPL 2022 is to be played with ten teams. There will be 74 matches in total, and each team will play 7 home and 7 away matches. Both Ahmedabad and Lucknow can choose 3 players before the IPL auction (between 1st December 2021 to 30th December 2021), according to the IPL Retention rules. Teams can pick a maximum of two Indian players and a foreigner, one of them most likely to lead these teams in season 15. IPL-lovers are eagerly waiting for the teams to be formed.
